This article, titled “Simple stickers may save lives of patients, athletes and lower medical costs”, examines a research team which created a low-cost wearable electronic device for monitoring purposes. The design is made of cellulose (making it breathable and biocompatible) coated with molecules which make it hydrophobic and bacterial resistant, allowing it to stick to skin and internal organs well. The idea is to allow for easy monitoring of vitals and even internal organ activity without issues of rejection. Uses range from analyzing activity of athletes to sleep patterns of patients with sleep apnea.
